Hong is a new roommate in our house,
she told us her story in her English studying.
ON A BUS
One day, Hong learned the words "get off" from a friend.
After she was on a bus for a while,
she wanted to use these words she just learned.
She came to the driver:「Excuse me, Can I TAKE OFF the bus?」
(She said the driver looked so confused, maybe he thought
this Chinese girl want to be naked on the bus?!)

On A Phone.
Hong is calling her Mom again.
She needs to report to her mom nearly everyday.
My wife is sitting next to her and she said to Hong
in a very low voice :「Don't forget THAT--I love you.」
She nodded.
After a while she is finishing her call,
「Don't forget that I love you.」 she said to her mom.
My wife and I looked to each other and we both laughed in tears.

我在永和某兒童美語班教英文,有一天上到認識蔬菜,
我給小朋友一些中文提示,希望他們能說出英文的答案.
「什麼蔬菜是小白兔愛吃的啊?」
「carrot!」小朋友齊聲回答.
「大力水手卜派愛吃什麼蔬菜?」
「spinach!」小朋友都很聰明.
「我們在切什麼東西的時候會流眼淚啊?」
結果這一題沒人回答,我想可能是他們不用做家事的關係吧?!
於是我一邊想該換個什麼樣的問法,另一邊無心地又把同一個問題重複了一遍.
結果坐在角落的小紅,憨憨的伸出她的手指頭說:「finger!」

有一天,小紅和爸爸在路上遇到一個老外,
老外問:「How can I go to the MRT station?」
小紅說:「Slowly! I can't quite follow you.」
老外就再說一次.
小紅回答:「Go along this road and turn left in the secend black.
And you will go via ............」
爸爸說:「小紅妳好厲害,可以和外國人溝通.」
小紅說:「哪裡,我不過把課文背給他聽而已.」
爸爸:「............」
